Atlas - Protection of the designations of origin Douro and Port
Hereby we present you the Atlas.
We kindly invite you to dive in the world of law on Geographical Indications. Beautiful creation of human minds to put in the legal frames what humankind has been doing for centuries and generations: use the advantages of the region where they lived to create something unique and one of the kind. Passing on the knowledge on how they perfect production of certain product from generation to generation; creating consortias for better organization and control of the quality of the product. Finally, creating the laws to protect national geographical indications, creating international treaties and bilateral agreements to ensure the protection will spread worldwide.
Have fun with it, discover the world of GIs, gain knowledge on protection system of GIs in each country. Please, don’t forget about the economic and cultural context of the region and history of each country that had major influence on the law.
